What is a Ceramic Coating?

A Ceramic Coating is a liquid polymer that is applied by hand to the exterior of a vehicle. The coating chemically bonds with the vehicle’s factory paint, creating a layer of protection. Unlike traditional sealants and waxes, a Ceramic Coating creates a permanent or semi-permanent bond with a vehicle’s paint, meaning that it does not wash away or break down and does not require repeated application every few months. Thus, a Ceramic Coating gives you a more durable, longer-lasting protection, and a great gloss that is hard to achieve with other products.

Benefits of Ceramic Coatings for Cars

Repel Rain, Mud, and Dirt

  • Unlike traditional waxes or sealants, Ceramic Coatings do a better job of protecting a vehicle’s exterior finish. Ceramic Coating products have superhydrophobic properties which are a fancy way of saying they repel water. When a vehicle has a hydrophobic Ceramic Coating, water will bead on the surface and slide off more easily. This means mud and grime will have a more difficult time bonding to your vehicle’s paint, and when you wash your car, contaminants can be removed with less effort.

Prevent UV Damage, Rust, and Oxidization

  • For the most part, leaving your car in the sun for too long tends to cause the vehicle’s paint to fade and even crack. The ultraviolet rays of the sun have a destructive effect on the car’s surface. Bugs and bird droppings also can damage your vehicle’s exterior surfaces. Many ceramic coating brands prevent these types of damages as well as other forms of corrosion such as rust and oxidization.

Cost-Effective

  • Since car wax does not last more than three months on average, you need to re-wax your vehicle much more than with a Ceramic product. Ceramic Coatings are more durable and a good coating with proper maintenance can serve you for a few years before replacing it. In the end, you save money with Ceramic Coatings over wax or sealant products.

Improved Protection

  • Sealants and waxes sit on top of the paint as a sacrificial layer that breaks down quickly, are not chemical resistant, and offer no additional strength to the paint. With a Ceramic Coating, your vehicle gets a semi-permanent layer of protection that bonds with the paint on a molecular level. That protective layer is tougher than the soft wax and can withstand ultra-harsh treatment both from the terrain and the elements.

Glossy Finish

  • Regular car waxes and sealants leave a glossy appearance initially, but that shine degrades quickly after being exposed to normal driving and weather conditions. Compare that to the ultra-glossy, glass-like appearance of a Ceramic Coating, gives the vehicle a beautiful finish that does not fade from the sun or with the passage of time.
